Sustaining pledges finance more than 80% of the congregation’s budget. They provide a consistent level of support that is crucial to our ability to fulfill our mission and vision. Each member of UUCSR is asked to make a sustaining pledge, as an individual or as a household.
What is a pledge?
A pledge is a good faith commitment on record to support the congregation financially on an ongoing basis. Pledges enable us to plan ahead because we can estimate how much income the congregation expects to receive.
How much should I give?
The amount of your pledge is an individual decision for each member or friend. There is no required minimum commitment. We encourage you to think about what would be a “fair share” of your income. We ask that each member consider tithing 5% to 10% of their annual gross income per year, or working toward that goal. To find out what that means for you, see our Suggested Giving Guide.
We value your support at whatever level you are able to give. Every pledge and donation is important and appreciated.
Set up and manage your pledge
We highly recommend that you set up your pledge online with automatic withdrawals from your credit card, bank checking account, or bank savings account. (To avoid the church incurring credit card fees, bank transfers are preferred.) It’s easy to set up and once you do so, you can sit back and relax knowing that your pledge is being fulfilled automatically at regular intervals – no more having to remember to write out checks, keep track of how much you’ve paid, etc. The church receives a regular, predictable income stream from your pledge. It continues indefinitely unless you change it. You can go online at any time to make changes or to monitor or increase your pledge.

If you prefer not to pay your pledge by automatic withdrawals, but to fulfill it by personal check, annually or at times of your choosing, or by any other means, please inform the church of your pledge by filling out a Pledge Card , so that the church can know how much income to expect and can budget accordingly.
